As far back as he can remember, Matt Chiaverini has always been passionate about music. Although his taste for different genres has changed through the years, his love for music has remained constant.

During his younger years, Matt remembers being heavily influenced by classic rock groups such as Led Zeppelin and alternative groups such as Soundgarden, Candlebox and Silverchair. He soon became interested in the sounds of Hip-Hop and Rap. He began listening to Artists such as Nas, Notorious B.I.G and Jay-Z. Not only was he drawn to this music because of the talented lyricists, he became more and more interested in the beats of the song. The different uses of looping and samples was literally “music” to his ears.

Matt remembers rewinding tracks over and over just to listen to the beat of the song. This included tracks such as Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones Pt. II” and “Hell on Earth”. Slowly but surely his taste in music evolved again. In his freshman year of college he heard one beat that would change his life forever.

The track “Sandstorm” by Finnish producer Darude, is without a doubt the song that provoked Matt’s love for the genre of Electronic Dance Music (EDM). He remembers sitting in his college dorm room listening to the track over and over. He was mesmerized by the build ups and breakdowns of the song. No song had ever given him so much energy before.

One day at a record store he found a mix CD with Sandstrom on it. He looked at the tracklist and didn’t recognize a single Artist or track name other than Sandstorm. He decided to take a chance and buy it anyway. To his surprise he loved the whole CD. He was fascinated by the seamless transitions between songs. Over the next ten years, Matt became addicted to the sounds of Electronic Dance Music (EDM), specifically Trance and Progressive. Matt has completely submersed himself in the clubbing culture attending shows by DJ’s such as Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Andy Moor, Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden and Judge Jules, just to name a few. These shows have taken Matt around the world to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Rome, Boston, San Diego, Denver, Hartford and Scottsdale, Arizona.

During this time period, Matt has also built a solid fan base of listeners who are always awaiting the next release of his next DJ mix. The best part is…..he is JUST getting started. Over the next couple years, Matt plans to take his passion for EDM to the next level.
